Athletes use their FYTT account to see their training and log it from their phone. Adding them to the Roster doesn't give them access on its own: each one activates their account from an invite email, or joins through your team sign-up link. This guide covers sending and resending invites, what athletes see when they accept, and fixing an athlete's email.
Invite statuses
An athlete's status on the roster tracks where their account stands:
Uninvited: on the roster, but no invite has been sent.
Invited: an invite was sent, and the athlete hasn't activated their account yet.
Active: the athlete set their password. The status changes on its own when they accept.
You can set a not-yet-active athlete's status yourself from their profile, but that doesn't give them a password, so they still can't sign in. Once they're no longer Uninvited or Invited, the Invite bulk action skips them and you can't change their email. Let the athlete accept the invite instead.
Import or Import & Invite
When you add athletes with Import athletes, the grid ends in two buttons:
Import adds the athletes as Uninvited and emails no one. Use it to build the roster before anyone's notified.
Import & Invite adds them as Invited and emails each one an activation link.
If an email in the grid already belongs to a FYTT account, for example an athlete who trains with another team, FYTT adds that account to your team instead of creating a new one. A Some athletes already had accounts dialog lists them when the import finishes. With Import & Invite, they get an email saying they've been added to your team rather than an activation link, since they already have a password.
Sending or resending an invite
To invite athletes you imported, or to resend an invite that expired or went to the wrong address, you don't need to delete and re-import anyone:
On the roster, tick the checkbox on each athlete.
Click Invite (1) in the bulk actions bar.
Check the names in Invite these athletes? and click Send invites.
Invite only shows when the roster has Uninvited or Invited athletes, and it only emails those. Active athletes in your selection are skipped. Each new invite replaces the link in any earlier one.
What the athlete sees
The invite email's link opens an Activate your account page with the athlete's email filled in. They choose a password, click Activate and sign in, and land on their training. They can then download the FYTT app and sign in to it with the same email and password. See Mobile interface.
Activation links expire after 6 hours
A link stops working 6 hours after it's sent, after it's been used, or after a newer invite replaces it. The athlete then sees Your activation link has expired, with an Email me a new link button that emails them a fresh one. You can also resend it with Invite.
Lost the link, or getting the app later
If an athlete never activated their account, resend the invite with Invite. If they're already active, they don't need an invite: they sign in to the app with their email and password, and if they've forgotten the password they use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. See Password reset.
Team sign-up link
Copy team sign-up link on the roster gives you a link to share instead of importing. It opens a page titled Join and your team's name, where the athlete enters their email and a password and clicks Create account. FYTT emails them a link to confirm their address, and they appear on your roster.
An athlete who already has a FYTT account clicks Join with your existing account, enters that account's email, and clicks Email me a join link. The link they're emailed adds your team to the account they already have, so they don't end up with a second one. If they try to create a new account with an email FYTT already knows, they're sent to this page instead.
Fixing an athlete's email
Before they accept
While an athlete is Uninvited or Invited and has never signed in, you can change their email:
Open the athlete's profile from the roster and click Edit athlete.
Change Email (1) under Sign-in and click Save.
Back on the roster, select the athlete and use Invite to send an invite to the new address.
Changing the email cancels the invite already sent, which is why you send a new one. You can also fix emails in bulk from the roster's Sheet view.
After they accept
Once an athlete has signed in, the email belongs to them and coaches can't edit it. The athlete changes it themselves: in Account settings, under Credentials & security, they click Change email, enter the New email, and click Send confirmation. The change takes effect when they click the link sent to the new address. It's the same account, so their training history, logs and team memberships all stay. If they can't sign in to make the change, contact FYTT support.
One email per account
Each FYTT account has its own email address, and no two accounts can share one. Two athletes, such as siblings, need two different addresses. One person can still be on several teams with one account.
