Athlete profiles

View and manage everything about one athlete in one place

Written by Todd Miller

An athlete's profile is where everything about one athlete comes together: their status and position, their metrics, groups, notes, and recent training. This article covers opening a profile, editing the athlete's details, recording new information, and changing what the profile shows.

An athlete's profile

Opening a profile

Click an athlete's row on the Roster to open their profile. To jump to another athlete without going back, click their name in the header (Switch athlete, 1), type in Search athletes, and pick them from the list. Click Roster in the breadcrumb to return to the roster.

Across the top you'll find the athlete's status (2), Edit athlete (3), Individualize (4), Edit layout (5), and Record (6). Observers see the profile read-only, without these controls.

Editing athlete info

Click Edit athlete to update the athlete's First name, Last name, Sex, and Birthdate, or click Change photo to upload a new photo, then click Save. You can also change the photo by clicking the athlete's avatar on the profile.

The Email field only appears under Sign-in until the athlete signs in for the first time. For an invited athlete, changing the email cancels the invitation already sent, so send a new one afterward. Once the athlete has signed in, their email is theirs to change in their own Account settings. See Athlete access for invitations and sign-in problems.

Height and weight

Height and weight aren't on the Edit athlete form. They're built-in metrics, Height and Weight, so you record them as measurements, and each new value keeps the old ones as history. If they're on the profile's metric list, hover over one and click the + that appears, enter the Value and Date in Record measurement, and click Save.

Recording a new weight

You can also go through Record > Measurement. If they aren't on the list, add them with Edit layout (see below).

Status

The badge beside the athlete's avatar shows their status. Click it to open Update status, pick a new one, then click Update status at the bottom. The footer shows the change before you save.

The Update status panel

The statuses come in three groups:

  • Training: Active (no restrictions), Conditional (cleared with conditions), Limited (reduced load or selected work), Monitoring (watched, not restricted)

  • Not training: Rehab (on a rehab program), Return to play (progressing back), Out (not cleared for anything)

  • Off the active roster: Inactive (away for non-medical reasons)

Invited and Uninvited describe the athlete's account, not their training, so you can't pick them here.

Recording an injury doesn't change status

Status and injury records are separate. If an injury takes an athlete out of full training, record the injury and update their status too.

Position

The athlete's position sits at the top of the metric list on the left. Click the pencil beside it (1), type the new position, and press the check mark to save. Position is free text, so use whatever your sport calls it.

Recording information

Click Record to choose what you're adding:

  • Measurement: a value for one of the athlete's metrics. Search for the metric, enter the value and date, and save. Only metrics on this profile are listed. To enter every metric in an assessment under one date, choose the assessment itself (Record the whole assessment); choosing one of its metrics records only that metric.

  • Note: something worth writing down. See Notes.

  • Injury: body part, side, and date. Only staff with personal health information (PHI) access on the team see this option.

  • Group assignment: add the athlete to a training group. See Groups.

The Record dialog

Each panel also has its own shortcut in its top-right corner. In the screenshot of the panel shortcuts, Groups (2) adds the athlete to a group, Notes (3) writes a note, and Training (4) opens the full training report for this athlete, which covers their completed sessions over any date range.

The panels

The rest of the profile is made of panels. Which panels appear depends on the report layout, but a typical profile includes:

  • Metrics (the list on the left): each metric's latest value, when it was measured, and how much it has changed since the previous value.

  • Training: completion for the date range, sessions completed out of sessions assigned, and the programs the athlete is on.

  • Notes: notes written about the athlete during the date range.

  • Groups: the groups the athlete belongs to right now, with the coach on each.

  • Injuries: injury records for the date range. Only staff with PHI access see this panel. Click Record an injury (1) in its corner to add one with the body part, side, and date. See Injuries.

Use the search icon in the toolbar to filter the panels by name or by the metric they show. Click the download icon (Export to spreadsheet) to export athlete reports to a spreadsheet. The athlete you're viewing is already selected, and you can tick more athletes before you click Export.

Changing the date range

Every dated panel, including the metric charts, reads the same date range, shown on the button at the right of the toolbar. To change it, click the date button and pick Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days, Last 180 Days, or Last 360 Days. You can also pick Custom Range, enter From and To dates, and click Apply. Charts don't have separate date windows.

The date range picker

The range is shared by the whole team

Unless the athlete's profile is individualized (see below), every profile on the team uses the same layout and date range. Changing the range here changes it for every athlete on the roster.

Changing what the profile shows

Click Edit layout to rearrange the profile. A bar tells you whose layout you're editing. In edit mode you can:

  • click Add panel (1) to add a panel such as a line graph, attendance, or a table

  • click Add metric (2) to add a metric to the list on the left, such as Height or Weight

  • drag panels to move them, and drag a panel's corner to resize it

  • use a panel's menu for Panel settings (rename it or choose its measurements) or Delete panel

Click Done (3), or press Esc, when you're finished.

Editing the profile layout

By default, changes you make here apply to every athlete's profile on the team. To change one athlete's profile only, individualize it first.

Individualizing an athlete's profile

Every athlete on the team shares one profile: the team default, with the same panels, metrics, and date range. Individualize an athlete when their profile needs something the rest of the team's doesn't, such as a rehab athlete's injury and readiness panels, a goalkeeper's position-specific tests, or a longer date range for an athlete you're tracking over a season.

  1. Open the athlete's profile and click Individualize (4 in the header).

  2. In the Individualize report dialog, click Individualize.

The Individualize report dialog

FYTT copies the team default's panels, metrics, date range, and athlete-facing setting into a profile just for that athlete, and the header button changes to Individualized. From then on, Edit layout and the date range on their profile change only their copy, and it replaces the team default on their mobile profile too. Individualizing needs edit access to the team.

An individualized profile stops following the team default

It's a copy, so panels or metrics you later add to the team default don't reach it. To pick up the team default's changes, switch the athlete back and individualize them again.

Switching back to the team default

Click Individualized, then click Use Team Default in the Use team report dialog. This deletes the athlete's individualized profile, including any changes you made to it, and their profile shows the team default again.

Why an athlete sees pounds when you programmed kilograms

Each athlete picks their own Measurement system (imperial or metric) when they accept their invitation and can change it later under Preferences in their Account settings. When they open a workout, prescribed weights are converted into their system and rounded to the nearest 5. So a set you wrote as 100 kg shows as 220 lbs to an athlete whose account is set to imperial. The athlete fixes this by switching their Measurement system to metric.

The metric values on the profile use the team's measurement system, which you set in the team's settings under Team measurement system.
