Payments lets you sell your training to your own athletes: a program pack, a camp, or a monthly membership that unlocks one or more teams. Athletes pay in the FYTT app, and the money goes to your own Stripe account. This article covers connecting Stripe, creating offerings, what athletes see when they buy, and how to follow who has paid.
Payments isn't Billing
Payments is money your athletes pay you. Your organization's own FYTT subscription is under the Billing tab instead; see Billing.
Connecting your Stripe account
Only managers can set up Payments, because it lives in Organization Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar.
Open Organization Settings and click the Payments tab (1).
Read the fees under the button: the Platform fee is a percentage of each payment, Stripe processing is roughly 3% on top of it, and Payouts go direct to your Stripe account.
Click Get Started (2). FYTT creates a Stripe account for your organization and sends you to Stripe to verify your business and bank details.
When you finish with Stripe, you're sent back to the Payments tab, ready to create your first offering.
If you leave Stripe before you're done, click Get Started again to pick up where you left off.
Creating offerings
An offering is one price, one-time or monthly, and the teams it unlocks. Once Stripe is connected, the Payments tab lists your offerings. Click New offering and fill in:
Name: what athletes see, for example "Summer Strength".
Amount: the price in US dollars.
Type: One-time or Monthly.
Minimum months: shown for Monthly only. Athletes commit to at least this many months before they can cancel. Leave it at 1 for no commitment.
Description: athletes read this at checkout, so say what they get and how often they train.
Teams: tick each team whose training this offering unlocks.
Click Save offering.
Amount and type are permanent
Stripe locks a price once it exists. After saving, you can still change the name, minimum months, description and teams, but not the amount or type. To sell at a different price, create a new offering.
One-time purchases vs. subscriptions
A One-time offering is charged once and its access doesn't expire. A Monthly offering bills the athlete every month until they cancel. The offerings table shows each one's Price, Type, Teams unlocked, how many have bought it, and when it was Created. Click a row to edit it.
To stop selling an offering, open it and click Delete offering, then confirm. Athletes can no longer buy it, but everyone who already bought or subscribed keeps their access, and subscribers keep being billed.
What athletes see
Athletes find your offerings in three places in the app (see Mobile interface):
Train: when an athlete is on a team you sell and hasn't paid, the day leads with a card for each offering on that team, with a Subscribe to get started or Buy button.
Subscription: in the Settings menu on their Profile, shown once you sell at least one Monthly offering, or once they have a subscription. It lists the monthly offerings on their teams, or their current plan once they've subscribed.
Store: in the same menu, shown once you sell at least one One-time offering. It lists every one-time offering, and marks each one Purchased once they've bought it.
Once an athlete has paid with a card, Payment info also appears in the menu, where they can replace the card on file.
What checkout looks like for athletes
Athletes pay inside the app. The checkout shows your organization's name, the offering's description, the amount, and its terms, such as "Billed monthly · 3-month minimum, then cancel anytime". Athletes can enter a Promo code (promotion codes you create in your Stripe dashboard), then pay with the card on file or enter a card in Stripe's secure field. If the card is declined, they see Payment declined with Stripe's reason and can try again.
The fine print tells the athlete they're buying from your organization, so disputes and refunds are between them and you.
Purchases and access control
On the Train tab, workouts on a team you sell stay hidden until the athlete holds one of that team's offerings. Once they pay, the team's training shows up right away. Coaches and managers never pay, and neither does anyone viewing an athlete's calendar on their behalf.
Cancelling a subscription
Athletes cancel from their Subscription screen with Cancel subscription, then confirm. During a minimum term they can't cancel yet. Instead, the screen tells them the date their minimum term ends and they can cancel. You can't cancel an athlete's subscription from FYTT. Do that, and any refund, in your Stripe dashboard.
If an athlete's payment fails
If a monthly charge still fails after Stripe's retries, the subscription is marked past due. The athlete gets one email, and their Train tab and Subscription screen show We couldn't charge your card with an Update payment method button. Their training on that team stays hidden until the payment goes through. Saving a new card retries the charge straight away. This affects only that athlete, not your organization's account.
Seeing who has paid
Open an offering from the Payments tab and click View subscribers or View purchases (the button shows the count). The list shows each athlete with the date they subscribed, or the amount and date they bought. Subscribers are marked Active, Past due, Pending or Canceled, and one-time buyers Paid. Search by name to find someone. The list is read-only: cancellations and refunds happen in Stripe.
