Team dashboard

What the team dashboard shows, from setup to the weekly brief

Written by Todd Miller

Home is the team's dashboard: the first page you land on for a team, and the quickest read on how its training is going. This guide covers the card at the top (the getting-started card for a new team, the weekly brief once it trains) and the cards below it.

The Home dashboard for a team

Home is for coaches, athletic trainers, and organization managers.

The card at the top

What leads the dashboard depends on how far the team has come:

  1. Before anyone has trained, the getting-started card walks you through setting the team up.

  2. In the week the first session is logged, a card marks it: "Team is training.", with who logged the first session and a button to see their training.

  3. From the next Monday on, the weekly brief takes its place for good.

The weekly brief

The brief is headed This week with today's date, and counts what it found, such as "3 things worth a look". Each line is one sentence about the team, with the athletes, programs, and plans it names linked to their pages. Most lines end with a button that opens Flex with the question already asked, so you can dig in without typing it.

The weekly brief

The brief reads this week from Monday through yesterday. On a Monday, when nothing this week is due yet, it reads all of last week instead. Sessions scheduled for today are never counted as missed.

The lines, most urgent first:

  • No log in 7+ days: athletes who trained in the four weeks before, had sessions on their calendar in the last seven days, and logged none of them. Button: Check on them.

  • Regulars trained: how many regulars have trained this week, and which haven't yet. A regular trained in the four weeks before this one and has a session this week. The line also notes a change of 10 points or more on the same days a week earlier. Button: Who missed, and why?

  • Athlete statuses: athletes whose status is Limited, Out, Rehab, Return to play, Conditional, or Monitoring. Button: See their week.

  • Injuries: injuries opened or closed this week. Only athletes whose health information you're allowed to see are included. Button: See their week.

  • New bests: results recorded this week that beat the athlete's previous best on that metric, in the metric's own direction. Only metrics your organization or team set up on an exercise count, and an athlete's first result on a metric isn't a best. Button: What changed.

  • Programs ending: training that ends in the next two weeks with nothing scheduled after it for the same athletes or group. Button: Plan the next block.

  • Drafts waiting: programs and plans Flex built for you on this team that are still drafts a week later. Button: Finish it with Flex.

A line with nothing to report is left out. The brief shows six lines; if there are more, Show all followed by the total opens the rest.

A quiet week still shows the brief

When nothing needs attention, the brief reads Nothing needs you this week. No one has gone quiet, no program ends in the next two weeks, and no drafts are waiting.

Clicking a line's button opens the Flex panel with the question filled in; nothing changes until you send it and confirm what Flex proposes. The buttons don't appear on the tablet interface.

The getting-started card

Until an athlete on the team logs a session, the dashboard greets you with "Let's get team training." and leads with the getting-started card. Its five steps:

  1. Bring in a program: import last season's program as a draft, or describe the block you need and have Flex build it.

  2. Add athletes: first name, last name, and email for everyone you train. Nobody is emailed yet.

  3. Set starting numbers: record each athlete's current value on the metrics you test, so percentage-based loads have a number.

  4. Deploy and invite: put a program on the calendar for the team, a group, or specific athletes, and send athletes their logins.

  5. First session logged: this one is your athletes'. The first logged session ends setup.

A step is done when the team's records show it, not when you click something: a program exists, an athlete is on the roster, a starting number is recorded, sessions are scheduled and at least one athlete is invited, and an athlete has logged a session.

The left of the card shows the first step that isn't done (for example, "Step 1 of 5 · No programs yet"). Type or drop a file into its message field to hand the step to Flex, or click Do this manually to go to the page where you'd do it yourself: the Library, the Roster, Metrics, or Plans. How this works opens that step in the in-app manual. Once a step has a Flex conversation, the field is replaced by where that conversation stands, with Continue in Flex, Answer in Flex, or Pick it up in Flex to go back to it.

The right of the card, Getting started, lists all five steps with what the team has for each, such as "12 athletes".

Hiding the card

Click the Hide getting started icon (the crossed-out eye) at the top of the step list to hide the card for yourself on this team. The dashboard's subtitle then reads, for example, "Setup is hidden — 2 of 5 done.", and a Get started button in the header brings the card back. Hiding it doesn't skip any steps, and other coaches still see it.

If your access to the team is view-only, the card shows each step without the message field or Do this manually.

Naming the team

A team created at signup has a placeholder name. Until you rename it, the header shows Name your team; athletes see the name on their invite and signup pages.

The cards below

  • TODAY'S SCHEDULE: the team's sessions still to come today, up to three. Click one to open it on the calendar, or View Calendar for the rest.

  • ACTIVE PROGRAMS: the plan running this week and the program in it, with Week progress through the plan. Use the arrows to step between programs running this week, the Plan: switcher when the team has more than one plan, Go to Plan, or Open program. Programs scheduled straight to athletes or groups, outside a plan, don't show here.

  • RECENT ACTIVITY: the latest notes coaches and athletes have added, across your whole organization.

Compliance and attendance

The Compliance and Attendance cards

Compliance (workout completion rate) shows, for each day this week, the share of workout logs on that day's team sessions that were completed. Attendance (team show-up rate) shows the share of athletes marked present in that day's attendance (see Attendance).

Why the weekly figure starts the week low

The big percentage on each card averages all seven days, Monday to Sunday, and days that haven't happened yet count as 0%. Early in the week it reads low even when every session so far went well, so read the day bars.
