The progressions feature enables you to quickly map out an isolated plan for adaptation within a program. For example, suppose a program has a track for "Upper Body" on Mon/Wed and a track for "Lower Body" on Tue/Thu. You can build a separate progression for each track within the program so you can easily create and review the series of workouts that progress toward the desired adaptation.
Creating progressions
Progressions can be created from scratch directly within a program, or you can create progression templates for the team or institution database, which can then be inserted into a program.
Create an institution progression
Progressions created at the institution level can be inserted into any program created within the institution. To create an institution progression, navigate to the institution dashboard, click the progressions item, then click the button to create new progression.
Create a team progression
Progressions created at the team level can be inserted into any program created within the given team. To create a team progression, the team must have the "Private database" setting turned on. Then you can navigate to the team dashboard, click the progressions item, then click the button to create new progression.
Create a program progression
To create a progression within a program, click the "New Progression" button in the top right of the program builder and select the "From scratch" option.
This brings up a form where you can create a new progression from scratch. (Progressions created within a program can be copied and used elsewhere if needed.)
Progression builder
FYTT's progression builder gives you an intuitive interface to quickly build out a progression of workouts with spreadsheet-like speed and convenience. This makes it easy to build detailed, progressive workout sequences that guide athletes through progressive overload or skill advancement over the length of the program.
Weeks
The number of weeks in a progression matches the number of weeks in its underlying program. An empty progression will have empty rows for each week in the program.
Workouts
To add workouts, simply click the desired days for each week you want to include in the progression.
Once you've selected all the desired days within each week, you can start building out each of the workouts.
Insert a workout template from the database
If you've created workout templates in your team or institution database, you can insert them into a progression by clicking the "insert" icon in the top right of a workout, searching for and highlighting the desired template, and pressing enter.
From there, you can edit the workout according to the needs of the progression.
Create a workout from scratch
To start building a workout from scratch within the progression, click the "plus" icon to insert a set, then specify the set's attributes. You can continue inserting sets or using the workout sheet's other functions to quickly build workouts.
Copy and paste workouts
Once you've created or inserted a workout, you can easily copy and paste it into other workout slots.
Hold the Ctrl/Cmd button to enable the selection interface.
Click a workout to select it.
Press Ctrl/Cmd + C to copy it.
Hold the Ctrl/Cmd button to enable the selection interface.
Select other desired workouts in the progression.
Press Ctrl/Cmd + V to paste the selected workout(s).
Copy and paste individual cells
The individual cells in each workout can by copied and pasted to and from each other, just like in a spreadsheet. This makes it fast and efficient to duplicate the progression structure across workouts.
Progression workouts in the program
Once you've built a progression, the progression's workouts in the program builder are indicated by the progression icon on each one.
You can click on this icon in any of a progression's workouts to return to the progression builder.
Modifying progression workouts
You can open up a progression workout from the program builder and modify it like you would any other workout.
You can copy/paste them, drag/drop them, and delete them just like you would any other program workout.
Progression-level settings
Progressions have some additional settings that enable you to make them more dynamic and responsive.
Group requirement
You can add a group requirement to the progression, which is applied to all workouts in the progression. As is the case when adding group requirements to individual workouts, this setting at the progression level prevents an athlete from seeing any of the workouts unless they meet the specified group requirements.
This enables you to have multiple variations of a progression (e.g., bodyweight, dumbbell, or barbell) within a program, but athletes will only see one of them depending on their group assignments.
Workout modifiers
You can add workout modifiers to an entire progression. Progression-level workout modifiers will be applied to all its workouts, which can be an efficient way to apply a blanket conditional modification policy. However, be advised that you could easily run into unintended consequences if you're not careful about how the modifiers are applied.
